About the club:
Kiteklubb.no is the clubsite for kiters located around Trondheim. In addition there are several clubs in the regions around Trondheim which got their sites hosted under the domain kiteklubb.no. The goal of the site is to come together socially and allow kiters to get as much time as possible either on water or on snow, by sharing information about wind and when/where other kiters plan on go kiting. The club is among the biggest kiteclubs in Norway with around 100 paying members each year. During the year the club is also arranging trips, competitions, both in Norway and abroad for our members. To become a member, just sign in. To get a two week trial membership you click the link shown after registering (if you have a problem getting access after registering, contact us using our support page). After two weeks you may pay 200 NOK to get full membership, or you will loose access. Be aware that most content is written in norwegian, thus requiring you to understand the language to get the most out of your membership.
Snowkiting
The Trondheim area contains several good spots for snowkiting, the season lasts usually from january to april.
Among the most used spots are Meråker (closest), Storlien, Storwartz, Oppdal and Dovre.
Kitesurfing
Several spots can be kited, mostly on western winds, from march until early november. Some people kite though whenever it is windy whatever temperature. The main spot is Øysand 20km south of Trondheim. Other spots are Stokkøya, Ørland and Storvika. A 5/3mm wetsuit is enough for most of the year, though some people prefer drysuit during the coldest parts of the year. Shoes are recommended the whole year and gloves during spring/autumn.
Spotinformation Øysand:
At Øysand there is a parking fee during the opening season of the caravan park (beginning of may end of august). You must pay the fee (40,- NOK) at the kiosk close to the entrance. When parking at the spot at the north end of the beach, please park alongside the fence after the caravan situated almost at the end above the road. We usually launch the kites south of the caravan, and there has been a few accidents with kite equipment hitting cars. When the weather is warm and sunny, there is a lot of swimmers in the water, please keep a safe distance. The area north of the last red buildings at the shore north of the caravan is a wildlife zone, no kiting allowed 15.April to 15.July, rest of the year maximum speed is 10 knots, but it is recommended to stay clear of the area, which anyway is a small part of the spot.
